The international Fast Track Cities Initiative aims to end AIDS in metropolises by 2030.<\/p><p style=\"margin-bottom: 1rem; margin-block: 0px 0.9rem;\">We want to strengthen individual health competences and influence social conditions. In doing so, we want to involve and empower communities and interlink the prevention levels of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention. Health should be promoted close to people's lives. Structural prevention focuses on the behaviour of individuals as well as the conditions in which they live. After all, what a person can do, wants to do and ultimately actually realises for their own health and the health of others depends on individual factors, as well as essentially on their own environment and social structures. Discrimination and exclusion and\/or criminalisation hinder or prevent health-promoting behaviour. That is why we start where structural and social conditions prevent people from exercising their rights - including the right to health.<\/p><p style=\"margin-bottom: 1rem; margin-block: 0px 0.9rem;\">The purpose of the Berlin network is the mutual exchange of information and experience, the development of strategies for optimised cooperation and active participation in shaping health policy decisions. &nbsp;<\/p><p style=\"margin-bottom: 1rem; margin-block: 0px 0.9rem;\">The members of the FTCN-Berlin work together as equals, at eye level, with appreciation and mutual respect. FTCI?<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ff4006 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ff4006\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unaids.org\/en\/cities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201e<b>Fast-Track Cities Initiative to End Aids<\/b><\/a>\" is an initiative which was founded by UNAIDS\/WHO in 2014 in Paris. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fast-trackcities.org\/mayor-office\/berlin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Berlin <\/b><\/a>entered this initiative in 2016, as the first German city to do so. The aim of this international network of cities, which have in the meantime grown to 300, is to eradicate Aids by 2030.<\/p><p><b>Following milestones were initially set:<\/b><\/p><p><b>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a095\u00a0 Prozent der HIV-Infizierten wissen von ihrer Infektion<br \/>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 95 Prozent davon haben Zugang zur Behandlung<br \/>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 und bei 95 Prozent der Behandelten ist das Virus \u201eunter der Nachweisgrenze\u201c <br \/>- no discrimination against people with HIV<\/b><\/p><p>Aktuell sch\u00e4tzt das RKI, dass in Berlin 92% der Infizierten von ihrer Infektion wissen, 98% davon Zugang zur Behandlung haben und dass das HI-Virus bei 96% der Menschen, die unter Behandlung stehen, nicht mehr nachweisbar ist.<\/p><p>The fourth goal, zero discrimination, which is difficult to measure, is often neglected although the reduction of HIV-related stigma and discrimination is seen as an important prerequisite for an AIDS free world. Discrimination prevents people from accessing information, preventive measures, treatment and support when it comes to an HIV infection. The fear of stigma and discrimination can discourage people from getting tested, disclosing their status, or accessing HIV related services. Additionally, stigma and discrimination are harmful to well-being and general health.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ff4007 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"ff4007\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The Network Office within the FTCI framework<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ff4008 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ff4008\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>For these important reasons, the Network Office has been committed to reducing HIV-related stigma since the beginning of the Berlin Fast Track City process. To this end, it has organized two planning workshops with the most important Berlin actors in the field of HIV\/AIDS, in which interagency fields of action and goals for the reduction of stigma and discrimination were developed. <\/p><p>Following the <b><a href=\"https:\/\/fast-track-city-summit.berlin\/content-hub\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FTC-Summit 2021<\/a> <\/b>folgend, wurde Anfang 2022 das\u00a0&#8222;Fast-Track-City Netzwerk Berlin&#8220; (FTC-NW) gegr\u00fcndet, um gemeinsam noch st\u00e4rker f\u00fcr das Erreichen der FTC-Ziele zu k\u00e4mpfen.\u00a0 Diesem Zusammenschluss geh\u00f6ren mittlerweile 84 Vertreter:innen aus fast 40 Projekten, Einrichtungen und Beh\u00f6rden an. Hierzu geh\u00f6ren zum Beispiel: Berliner Aidshilfe; Bundesministerium f\u00fcr Gesundheit; Checkpoint BLN, der Parit\u00e4tische Berlin; Deutsche Aidshilfe; Fixpunkt; Hilfe f\u00fcr Jungs; HIV-Schwerpunktpraxen; Hydra; Robert-Koch-Institut (RKI); Sonar, Safer Sex Berlin; Senatsverwaltung f\u00fcr Wissenschaft, Gesundheit und Pflege; Schwulenberatung Berlin; St. Joseph Krankenhaus; Vaterblut; VIA, Regionalverband Berlin Brandenburg; Zentrum f\u00fcr Sexuelle Gesundheit mit allen Standorten; ZIK gGmbH; Mann-O-Meter. In diesem Sinne unterst\u00fctzt die Netzwerkstelle die Arbeit des Netzwerks und organisiert aktiv den j\u00e4hrlichen Summit sowie die regelm\u00e4\u00dfigen Plena in Zusammenarbeit mit den anderen Akteur:innen. <\/p><p>Some targets were achieved despite corona and lack of funding, eg.<\/p><p>- The Berlin Senate has signed the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aidshilfe.de\/sites\/default\/files\/documents\/positivarbeiten_-_deklaration.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\"Employer Declaration\u201c<\/a>of the German Aids Foundation, committing itself to a non-discriminatory treatment of HIV positive people in their working lives.<\/p><p>- People without health insurance can get access to medical care through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.berliner-stadtmission.de\/clearingstelle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>\u201cclearing office\u201d <\/b><\/a>and the <a href=\"https:\/\/checkpoint-bln.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Checkpoint BLN <\/b><\/a>and thus also to HIV medication.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element at connecting different stakeholders. What challenges do we face in including all people in the health care system? How can we work even better with policymakers and administrators to create a health system that is responsive to the needs of diverse communities? These are the questions that the Berlin Network of the Fast Track Cities Initiative (FTCI) Summit will address. With the participation of activists, experts and other relevant actors in the field of sexual health, the work of the Berlin FTC Network and the challenges it faces, but of course also its successes, will be presented. The network brings together medical, social and other scientific evidence with community voices to support the needs and rights of people affected by HIV, hepatitis C and other sexually transmitted infections.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The summit of the Berlin Fast-Track Cities Network provides a framework for discussing key issues in the field of structural prevention of HIV, AIDS, hepatitis and other predominantly sexually transmitted infections. By engaging with relevant political actors, the aim is to promote concrete solutions in the Berlin area. This will also involve dialogue with other German-speaking cities that have joined the FTCI (Bochum and Vienna). In addition, the congress will address topics such as the expansion of HIV PrEP use (pre-exposure prophylaxis) for other user groups. Activism will also find its place on the programme by discussing the active role and limits of self-organisation in eliminating HIV-related discrimination and stigmatisation as well as the challenges of prevention work. Other relevant topics in the programme include testing services with experiences from the prison sector, sex work, emergency medicine and possible solutions for structural barriers in the care of uninsured people.
